Using cannabis for menopause is helping many women with the changes that come.
The onset of menopause can change everything for women, including how we see our bodies and how our bodies look and feel. With all the hormone fluctuations, we may see weight gain, vaginal dryness, bone health changes, mood swings, and shifting attitudes about sex, including a lack of sexual desire and reduced interest in sexual activity.
The sooner we start to address these new changes, the better. While modern medicine has offered a lot of workable solutions for many women, for some, they don’t work at all and don’t address the attitudes, lack of sensation or vaginal atrophy some women experience with the onset of life change.
Cannabis products for menopause
With legalization of cannabis products in many states in the US, a lot of scientific researchers are now looking at how they can benefit menopausal women. For some of the more physical aspects of menopause, many women are now looking toward lubes that contain cannabis. Using a THC-based cannabis lube won’t get you “high,” but it can increase sensation. The THC acts as a vasodilator, stimulating nerve endings so you feel more, and can also relax you and increase the intensity of orgasm.
Not everyone wants or needs the THC aspects of cannabis, however, and it’s not yet legal in every state anyway. Cannabidiol (CBD), another compound found in cannabis, has also been found to be helpful for menopausal women, and can be derived from hemp – a strain of cannabis that contains little to no THC at all but is high in CBD, and which is becoming readily available, legally, almost everywhere. Cannabidiol doesn’t increase sensation with the intensity that THC does, but it also works as a vasodilator and a muscle-relaxant and has additional health benefits as well – the increased blood flow to the pelvic region can also help improve bladder control, and taking CBD as a supplement can help stimulate serotonin levels. With all the hormone fluctuation going on during menopause, many women experience some depression or mood swings that can benefit from a serotonin boost. Research is showing that it can even help regulate the dreaded “hot flashes” so many menopausal women encounter.
This sounds right for me. What do you recommend?
It’s not a “miracle cure”, but it has been very helpful for many of my female clients. The onset of menopause can bring about great change in our sexual relationships with ourselves and our partners, and I often work with women and couples who are experiencing this change and all that it brings to their sex lives. If this is where you’re at right now, I’m happy to talk with you and see how I can assist you in moving through this major life event with smoothness, grace, and pleasurable sex!
Please note, I work in California, which is a “legal” state – I am happy to recommend high-quality products that are legal and obtainable where you are.
