Surprising Facts About Polyamory
While not for everyone, polyamory (loving or being romantically involved with more than one person at a time) is becoming more accepted and embraced in many places, and it’s a topic that sometimes comes up when I work with people. It’s also a topic I talked about on-air recently, when I joined Sumati Sparks, “The Open Relationship Coach,” on her radio show, Leading Edge Love, where we discussed some of the facts about polyamory, what kind of challenges people work with when exploring open relationships, and the role of sex and intimacy coaching in it all.
With social acceptance of consensual non-monogamy growing, more and more resources are available for people considering exploring this path. Elizabeth Sheff (author of one of my recommended books, The Polyamorists Next Door: Inside Multiple Partner Relationships and Families) addresses some common myths about open relationships in this article in Psychology Today – it’s a great place to start. Tristan Taormino’s book Opening Up: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships is another incredible resource for exploration and advice.
