Before becoming a sex therapist I used to work as a stock photography producer putting together shoots for photographers. Getty’s TOP-SELLING female images at that time were tagged with popular keywords such as ‘sexy’, ‘beauty’, and ‘beautiful’ and were represented by overwhelmingly Caucasian women with blonde hair and a slim toned body. This standard still dominates the mass media, and yet according to this recent article in the NY Times, the TOP SELLING female images on Getty today are of gritty, strong, empowered women.
I welcome your thoughts on this evolution!
