This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a three-day weekend. For some, a long weekend and a holiday centered on romance equals only one thing: getting away. For others, it means hiding out at home – and that’s okay, too. Better than okay. If the idea of crowds, restaurants, public romance, and pink everywhere isn’t your thing, or if Valentine’s Day has found you home alone on the couch petting the cat, it’s a good time to retreat. Literally. Book a Valentine’s Day staycation and cozy up.

Friendship and Self-Love

Whether you’re celebrating alone or with a partner, put some time and effort into planning your staycation. Have friends over for a night of indulgence and companionship. Or maybe self-love is what you need right now. Put the phone on silent and plan all the good stuff – luxurious baths, flowers, candles, your favorite treats  – maybe even a massage therapist who does house calls, a trip to the toy shop, a stack of new books, a house cleaner – whatever it is that will bring you joy, warmth, self-care and pleasure, get to it!

Valentine's Day staycation, staycation romance | Dr. Namita Caen, sex coach, intimacy coach, sex therapy | Sex & Intimacy CoachingHome together

Paying homage to Cupid with a partner? Your staycation can be anything you want it to be together – even if you’re not headed to a beach in Hawaii, you can behave as if you were on vacation! Learn some new intimate massage skills and practice on each other, or book a couples’ massage at home. Take over the couch and indulge in some sexy movies. Read romantic poetry to each other. Dance to your favorite sultry tunes and slowly peel off each other’s clothes!  Use this time to focus on each other, create a safe space for appreciating your relationship, looking at the things you want to work on together and create a personal ritual for setting your intentions. Examine your core erotic themes. Or maybe even book a couples’ retreat with a sex coach and spend all weekend learning new ways to communicate and to give and receive pleasure.

Love is always in the air.

No matter how you celebrate this weekend (and even if you don’t celebrate at all), Valentine’s Day is a great reason to honor love, affection and pleasure.

And if you’re looking for some ways to plan a romantic staycation, let’s talk. I’m happy to offer some creative ideas for a romantic weekend in or help you plan a bespoke couple’s coaching retreat.

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Enjoy your weekend.
